LG Soft: GBA Derived PBA Optimization in Implementation

August 29, 2016 // By Syed Shakir Iqbal & Anubhav Shukla,
Rising demand for higher performance and additional functionality in mobile and handheld consumer electronics coupled with the desire for ever longer operating battery life requires designers to use a wide range of techniques for improvements in power, performance and area. However, the tools and technology are still not mature to capitalize PBA benefits in the implementation itself due to design complexities and runtime issues involving physical, power and path-based analysis (PBA) data handling, and mismatch across signoff and implementation w.r.t. PBA. This paper discusses in brief about methodologies that can be used within the existing GBA environment to extract the benefits of PBA without compromising signoff.
