On the back of this success, this year Elatec RFID Systems is expanding internationally – following the US branch, an additional office will be opening in Asia in the coming months.

The address of the Elatec RFID Systems branch is: 3228 SW Martin Downs Blvd, Palm City, FL 34990. From this base, the RFID and electronics specialist is overseeing its partnership with integrators and US suppliers of RFID solutions. The opening of a branch in Asia is also in the preparatory stages.

The manufacturer’s RFID modules are approved for all regional wireless standards, and with these modules integrators can market their solutions worldwide, without first having to obtain local regulatory approval.

“We’ve concentrated on 125kHz, 134.2kHz and 13.56MHz RFID technologies, including NFC, and in this sector we meet just about every standard that exists,” explains Stefan Haertel, RFID Department Director at Elatec. “Our concept of offering our solutions suppliers modules which provide a maximum of flexibility and configurability has been hugely successful. Recently, with our TWN4, we’ve even combined all three frequency bands in one reader – as far as I know there’s no comparable product that supports so many different transponders anywhere in the world. This simplifies both migration and the work of manufacturers and integrators.”

Elatec, which up to now has mainly earned its reputation as an electronics supplier for secure printing solutions, is now also enhancing its provision of reader modules for industrial applications. To this end, for example, it is offering PCBs with an expanded temperature range as well as readers with a removable antenna which affords greater flexibility to design more robust devices.

In addition to multi-standard, multi-frequency readers, Elatec also offers modules for individual standards, which are compatible with each other in terms of form factor and program. Using these as a basis, manufacturers can develop generic applications which, by using the appropriate module, can be adapted very simply and at short notice either to the transponder technologies the customer already has at their disposal, or which they are implementing from scratch.
