IDT buys NXP's data converter assets

Analog and mixed-signal chip vendor Integrated Device Technology Inc., has announced the separate acquisitions of NXP Semiconductors NV's high-speed data converter assets and Alvand Technologies Inc., an analog IP company specializing in data converters. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
IDT (San Jose, CA) said the deals would solidify its position in the wireless infrastructure market. The company said it could now offer technologies for wireless base stations, including RF components, analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters and other products.
"Over 10 months in the making, this pair of complementary acquisitions enables us to deliver what our customers have been asking for—a complete signal chain lineup from antenna to network," said Ted Tewksbury, IDT's president and CEO, in a statement.
Tewksbury said NXP's data converter portfolio provides leading edge production and Alvand's IP would be critical to IDT's next-generation product roadmap. "Having access to all the critical analog and digital functions in the base station uniquely positions IDT to optimize our customers’ system-level performance, power, cost and time-to-market," Tewksbury said.
Earlier this year, IDT acquired connectivity chip vendor PLX Technology Inc., in a cash and stock deal worth about $330 million.
