ASIC design foundry and custom SoC solutions provider, VeriSilicon Holdings Co. Ltd., and On2 Technologies Finland Oy , have agreed a wide-ranging partnership that adds the multi-format video encode/decode solutions from On2 Finland to VeriSilicon's expanding, system level star IP portfolio.
The agreement gives VeriSilicon access to On2 Finland's silicon proven IP, with support for a variety of video formats such as Real Video (RV), Divx, VP6, VP7, VP8 and AVS, for customer SoC designs targeting mobile and home entertainment consumer applications with varied market requirements.
"By adding On2 Finland IP, VeriSilicon expands its SoC platform capability to service HD audio/video applications such as Blu-ray DVD Players, advanced Set-top Boxes, Mobile Internet Devices, and automobile infotainment devices with audio, video and image processing requirements. VeriSilicon has already won a number of customer projects that combine our low power, HD 7.1 channel audio core and On2 Finland's 1080p video core and we are excited to formalize our partnership with On2 Finland so that more of our world-wide customers can benefit from this strategic partnership," said Wayne Dai, President and CEO of VeriSilicon. "VeriSilicon strives to be a world class design foundry with a full range of SoC capabilities to serve its worldwide customer base. Our advanced, flexible SoC platforms include industry leading ZSP family of DSP cores (acquired from LSI Logic), standard processor cores like ARM, PowerPC, low power analog IP and application software."
Jani Huoponen, General Manager of On2 Technologies Finland, said: "On2 Finland's IP for low powered, high performance video enabled devices is already widely deployed with over 40 semiconductor licensees today. Through the partnership with VeriSilicon we are able to proliferate our multi-format codec IP even further, which includes support for the newest and most exciting format of all - VP8."
