The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the eastern district of Texas Marshall division and also cited AlliedSense LLC, the U.S. distributor for CMOSIS and Leica Camera AG, which uses CMOSIS sensors in cameras.

The U.S. patents referenced are 5933190, 6011251, 7408195 and 7608516. The last two of these patents were authored by Guy Meynants, who went on to co-found CMOSIS in November 2007 and who serves the company as chief technology officer.

On Semi alleges in particular that the CMV2000 image sensor infringes its patents and sent CMOSIS a cease-and-desist letter dated September 23, 2013, according to a court document. The same document says that CMOSIS denied its products infringe the asserted patents.
