The changing face of Europe

Nick Flaherty talks to Andreas Pabinger, vice president for EMEA for Wind River EE Times Europe: What are the up and coming areas of opportunity in the embedded market in Europe? Andreas Pabinger: When I look at Europe I see a couple of global trends.


There has been a fundamental shift in telecoms and we have a couple of large players that are holding up and increasing their investment in China and the Far East so a lot of R&D has moved to the emerging markets. The structure of the industry changed – we still have the decision makers in Europe but the engineering has moved to the Far East. Fortunately Europe is still very strong in innovation and integrating multidisciplinary industries.

The SoCKIT evaluation kit is Arrow's latest development tool, featuring an Altera Cyclone V SoC with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore processor integrated within its 28nm FPGA fabric.
