The initial training materials cover a broad set of topics around designing with operational amplifiers. The training includes a series of about 30 on-demand training videos together with follow-up tests to check understanding of the information imparted. There is also hands-on training with guided use of development boards and the possibility of live face-to-face meetings, although the timing and location of these events across Europe will be subject to demand, TI executives said.

Typical topics for the 10-minute videos include: offset voltage and input bias, noise, I/O limitations of the op amp, bandwidth, slew rate, operational stability, electrostatic discharge and electrical overstress.

Although access to online videos is free the Precision Labs op amp evaluation module, which allows hands on training, has to be purchased, at a price of $199. This allows engineers to complete learning activities hands-on while being guided by an online trainer. The curriculum provides access to free design tools, such as reference designs and the TINA-TI Spice model simulator.

Art Kay, applications manager for Precision Labs, said: "There is no direct sales in these videos. But they do use TI parts."
