The ZSSC1750 and ZSSC1751 both include two 24-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) for simultaneous measurement of battery voltage and current as well as internal and external temperatures. In addition, they provide several power-saving operating modes, including an autonomous periodic wake-up from sleep mode that runs autonomously. Once a fault condition, such as exceeding a predefined current, voltage or temperature threshold occurs, these system basis chips (SBCs) will automatically wake up and alert a higher-level controller. Both SBCs are controlled via an SPI interface.

The ZSSC1750 provides an additional communication option using a physical LIN interface. When combined with a wide-range programmable gain amplifier these chips allow complex battery management tasks at currents ranging from milliamps to kiloamps.

The chips consume about 60-microamps in sleep mode and have built-in self-test and diagnostic functions. For 1,000 pieces, the ZSSC1750 is priced at about €4 or US$5.7 per unit and the ZSSC1751 is priced at about €3.9 or US$5.5 per unit.
