Immersive 3D audio enters B2B mode

August 08, 2016 // By Julien Happich
It took just over a year for French startup 3D Sound Labs to move from crowd-funding to B2B, signing technology licensing agreements with Hong-Kong-based headphones OEM Innovation Technology.

The new collaboration will bring 3D Audio headphones to Innovation's customers, integrating 3D Sound Labs' hardware and software IP to provide new reference designs for gaming as well as virtual reality.

"These new reference designs integrating our high performance 3D audio engine with low latency head tracking will allow major brands to bring an immersive and realistic 3D audio experience to their customers" said 3D Sound Labs' CEO Dimitri Singer in a statement.

The partnership will take 3D Sound Labs' real-time immersive surround sound quality to products going beyond the initial Neoh implementation offered through the company's 2015 KickStarter campaign.

"The way consumers watch movies or play games has changed drastically in the past years. Consumers now want affordable yet immersive headphones they can use with their favorite media, as well as VR ready products. Thanks to 3D Sound Labs technology, we can propose a new generation of headphones to our customers, with best-in-class 3D Audio at a reasonable BoM cost." said Nicolas Declunder, Director of Business Development at Innovation Technology.

Innovation Technology reference designs for gaming and virtual reality headphones are expected to launch in September 2016.
