Low profile POL DC-DC converter delivers 40-A

TDK Corporation has introduced the iAH series of 40 A Point of Load non-isolated DC-DC converters.

Measuring 10.2 mm high with a 33 mm x 13.5 mm footprint, the iAH demonstrates an increase in output current of 100% compared to TDK-Lambda’s similarly sized iAF series.

The iAH series is suited for a number of applications, including datacom, telecom, industrial, broadcast and test and measurement equipment.

The 96% efficient converters can be adjusted across a wide 0.7 V to 5.5 V output range and deliver up to 150 W.  An input range of 3 V to 17 V enables the iAH to operate from either a 5 V or 12 Vdc bus voltage; thus reducing inventory costs by stocking one part number.  A weight of just 12g allows these surface mountable converters to be easily pick-and-placed using automated, high volume production equipment.  As with all TDK-Lambda’s DOSA compatible footprint POLs, the iAH does not need externally mounted loop tuning components and has excellent transient response to load changes.

Standard features include a trim pin for output voltage adjustment, positive remote sense, remote on-off (positive or negative logic), input under-voltage, overcurrent and over-temperature protection.  A Power Good (low on fail) signal provides indication that the output outside of the ±12% set point tolerance, due to input under-voltage, overload, over-temperature or loss of control conditions.

Safety certification includes IEC/EN 60950-1, UL/CSA 60950-1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives.
