The round was led by Temasek Holdings Ltd., the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore.
LiFi uses modulation of visible light at frequencies not detected by the human eye to deliver wireless communications and Internet access. PureLiFi has partnerships with Cisco, Rolls Royce and Lucibel amongst others.
Since its last venture capital funding round in December 2014, the company has completed the development and production of the LiFi-X product, a mobile LiFi dongle that could allow established computers and mobile equipment to be retrofitted with LiFi capability.
Mike Hickey, formerly the CEO of Wolfson Microelectronics, will become chairman of PureLiFi while Alistair Banham, formerly a senior vice president at Wolfson comes in as CEO.
